Rhythms for Resonance

Abstract

This workshop will explore the connections between shared rhythms and the development of attuned family relationships. We will look at how resonance, attunement and trust can be developed and encouraged through rhythmic activities and musical improvisation. This can give hope to families living with Trauma and Dissociation. The workshop will include PowerPoint (with handouts) and playful improvisation. No musical ability required.

Biography

Joy Hasler has personal experience of Fostering and Adoption. She worked for Adoption UK and was a teacher in a special school before becoming a Music Therapist. She founded Catchpoint, a registered Adoption Support Agency offering Creative Therapies for families living with the effects of Complex Trauma. Joy has written chapters in books and co-edited Creative Therapies for Complex Trauma published in 2017. Joy is now retired and working as a therapy supervisor and trainer.
